Description
You can get cheap and good quality cables from eBay, Amazon or local electronic shops, but not all of them will work with the currently-available Project North Star electronics. Since the electronics are open source and haven’t been through certifications, high signal integrity on the DisplayPort cable and low resistance on the USB cable are key to building a reliable headset.
We’ve sourced and tested many cables and are offering the best performers to you in these kits.
There are two kits that you can choose:
Cable Kit A
Includes the cables necessary to power and run the headset’s displays
- 1x DP to Mini DP cable, 1 meter and 3 meter option
- 1x USB 3 extension cable 1 meter and 3 meter option
- 1x USB Power Adapter Board (USB A Male to Display Driver Header)
- 1x Project North Star Display Driver Debug Port Adapter (breakout board to make the ribbon connector contacts accessible as normal 2.54mm pitch header pins. Does not include a reflashing tool, but makes it easier to connect one like an Atmel ICE, J-Link, or Black Magic Probe.)
Cable Kit B
Adds a second USB extension and a micro USB cable for connecting the Leap Motion Controller.
- 1x DP to Mini DP cable, 1 meter and 3 meter option
- 2x USB 3 extension cables 1 meter and 3 meter option (both will be the same length)
- 1x Micro USB cable 0.5 meter long
- 1x USB Power Adapter Board (USB A Male to Display Driver Header)
- 1x Project North Star Display Driver Debug Port Adapter (breakout board to make the ribbon connector contacts accessible as normal 2.54mm pitch header pins. Does not include a reflashing tool, but makes it easier to connect one like an Atmel ICE, J-Link, or Black Magic Probe.)
