Note:
Due to the demand we've received over the past week, you'll need to wait for a bit before you can place your Kit B or Kit C orders. They will be back in stock as soon as possible!
In the meantime, Kit A is an option if you have access to a 3D printer; or if you already own a Project North Star v3.1, you can opt for an upgrade kit or rebuild kit.
This kit uses the Leap Motion Controller for hand tracking and the Intel® RealSense™ T261 for 6-DOF spatial tracking of the headset itself—both of which are available as add-ons. We’re working on ribbon adapters for other popular 6-DOF sensors but, for now, if you want to use a different 6-DOF sensor, you’ll need to get your own ribbon adapters (and probably modify the 3D-printing files).
This modular AR headset kit from CombineReality provides all the components necessary to build your Project North Star Deck X, our modified version of the Project North Star v3.2 headset (3D-printed parts not included).
With the Intel® RealSense™ T261 6-DOF sensor and Ultraleap’s Leap Motion Controller hand-tracking sensor packed under one lid, the Deck X is more compact than our previous modified versions. It also comes with the Integrator, our custom-built USB Hub System with integrated Arduino, Flash Drive, and built-in programmable buttons. The buttons can do whatever you want—but come pre-programmed for adjusting optical ergonomics factors, like IPD and eye position relative to the lenses.
The most exciting part about the Integrator, though, might be that it brings down the use of cables down from 4 to just 2! Not only does that reduce the number of USB ports used on your computer, it greatly reduces the weight of the cable bundle hanging off the back of your head. And, to be frank, it also just looks a lot less janky.

*) All kits, including Kit A, come with a PETG + carbon fiber 3D-printed sensor mounting bracket because of the temperatures that the T261 can reach (above the point where PLA loses its structural integrity). Also because filaments with carbon fiber in them are abrasive—and a little bit exotic.
For a full overview of the kit's content, please check the Bill of Materials tab.
As well as headset kits, individual components can be purchased for your set-up—including the lenses, display driver board, and high-resolution 120Hz-capable BOE displays specified in Leap Motion’s North Star reference design.
